Dr. Gunhild A. Stordalen Founder and Executive Chair of EAT

Dr. Gunhild A. Stordalen, a Norwegian physician and environmental advocate, is founder and Executive Chair of EAT and a powerful voice amplifying the connections between climate, health and sustainability issues across sectors. She co-founded the philanthropic Stordalen Foundation in 2011 with her husband Petter A. Stordalen and the EAT initiative followed, developed in cooperation with the Stockholm Resilience Center (SRC) and Wellcome Trust.

 

A published scientist with a PhD in pathology/orthopedic surgery, Gunhild sits on several boards and advises on councils including the United Nation’s Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Lead Group, the World Economic Forum (WEF) Stewardship Board on Food Systems and the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy (HLP) for the Blue Economy. She is a renowned public speaker with a distinct, personal voice and a commitment to food system transformation. In 2019, she was awarded with the United Nations Foundation “Global Leadership Award” for her ground-breaking work transforming the global food system for people and the planet.
